Training for Monastic Heritage Guardians

Bhutan: 2024

Buddhist monasteries and dzongs in Bhutan accommodate monks dedicated to the spiritual well-being of the people. The protection of heritage sites requires a vital partnership with the Central Monk Body that oversees these monks. To this end, we organize training on heritage site management for the monk in charge of heritage sites. Two participants will visit various heritage sites in Kyoto and Nara for ten days in September and October 2024.

Inventory of Post-war Heritage Buildings

Okinawa: Dec 2023 –

We have been commissioned by the Japan Federation of Architects and Building Engineers Associations to conduct a preliminary survey of Okinawa’s post-war heritage buildings (1945-2000) together with a working team of heritage managers in Okinawa. For Okinawa, where few buildings from before the Battle of Okinawa remain, preserving outstanding buildings from this era for future generations is particularly crucial.
